A family photo; the father sitting in the middle, the mother moving — with one of her most fierce expressions — on the right, and the daughter on the left closely following her mother’s hunting guidance.
They hide and live in this abandoned barn, and go out to hunt in the evening. Just like lions, the females take care of the hunting while males watch proudly from a distance.
A very intimidating concept to photograph, both in composition and execution. We drove all around the Arkansas countryside for days to locate an old fashioned, worn down, but not too damaged barn. This could not have been better; the tall tree next to it creates a haunting atmosphere with its empty branches. An abandoned hay bale right underneath it, showing there once was life there.
The stormy clouds play a huge part in this print — enforcing the requisite shelter in such inclement weather conditions.
